Here's an Example of How it Works:

A mother of two takes her children to a park that offers QLess. Instead of spending most of their day standing in line for popular attractions, the mother simply uses her cell phone to text the code for the attractions the kids were interested in to QLess. The system promptly responds with the current wait time for each ride, a query as to how many are in her party, and whether she wants to have QLess hold a place in line for her party.

The mother adds her family to the wait list for Rides A, B, and C and asks to be alerted when the wait time for each is down to 15 minutes. She and the children then proceed to eat at one of the park's cafes, with plans to go souvenir shopping afterwards. During lunch, QLess alerts the mother that Ride A's wait time is 15 minutes. She responds by telling QLess that she would like to be pushed back in line another 30 minutes so that she and the children have time to pursue their plans. QLess acknowledges her request, moves her party back in line, and adjusts the wait list accordingly.

The family finishes their meal and strolls to a shop where they spend $50 on souvenirs. They then head toward Ride A, and just as they are arriving, QLess calls the mother one last time to let her know that her spot in line is ready. The family presents Ride A's attendant with their "ticket" (the mother's cell phone number).

After the ride, the youngest of the children tells his mom that he's tired, so the family decides to head to their hotel and return the next day. In the meantime, QLess contacts the mother regarding Ride B, but receives no response. QLess waits a preset period and then removes the family from the queues for Rides B and C, and adjusts wait times for others in the queues accordingly.
